About the Event

The training will focus on understanding and setting Boundaries – Working Well, Working Safely and include:

  • Vicarious trauma

Working with people who have experienced traumatic events or have been responsible for causing them requires a key understanding toensure that workers themselves are able to manage thoughts and feelings around these events.

  • Ethical dilemmas

Volunteers at times may find themselves uncertain of what is suitable behaviour. This training is to help you make appropriate decisions within a correctional setting.

  • Mandatory reporting

Reporting inappropriate behaviour on the part of offenders, and even co-workers, can be very important. This training explains just what should be reported, and to whom.

  • The 'grey' nature of working with offenders

Sometimes working with offenders can lead volunteers into dubious, or'grey', territory. Learn how to be aware of these 'grey' areas and how to navigate them successfully.
