About the Event
Dr David Burke will lead a half-day training for practitioners interested in the Renew model. Renew was developed at the Talera Centre in Brisbane, in partnership with the Ipswich Domestic Violence Service, and works with adolescents and their mothers in parallel group sessions that periodically combine, supported by individual work with mothers, to rebuild the mother–child attachment. The model rests on a clear practice premise: where a young person's relationship with their mother is respected and repaired, the capacity for respectful relationships later in life follows.
This session is designed for practitioners who wish to deliver a Renew programme in their own setting, or to draw on Dave's approach and skills within existing child-to-parent violence work. It will be of particular value to those working across family violence, adolescent services, and the repair of family relationships.
