About the Event
The Leap & Longing
This month Darvis Walker and Brittany Jane Laidlaw will take us on a journey to discover the benefits of nature-based programs and provide insights into their historical and cultural significance.
The Leap is a six-month program for men, the Longing is a six-month program for women. One weekend per month, culminating in 10-day pilgrimage to the Tarkine in Tasmania’s northwest, these programs are focussed around leaning in and listening to nature.
Darvis Walker
Darvis pioneered tourism in the Tarkine regions 21 years ago when he started Tarkine Trails, a social enterprise focussed on reconnecting our community with wildness. With hundreds of expeditions into the Tarkine forest and coastline under his belt. For the last 20 years Darvis has trained and lead Men’s gatherings oriented around process work and authentic leadership. Today he has created the Leap to represent his deepest gift to the world, nature-based rites of passage.
Brittany Jane Laidlaw
Brittany trained with the Tom Brown junior wild school in the states and focuses her programs on the journey into purpose through the lens of the feminine. Brittany facilities wild women’s journeys across the country, including multi day expeditions in the Kimberley with Aboriginal elders, teaching a contemporary Aboriginal movement practice called Wayapa and undertaking her PHD in ecosomatics.
